Introduction

Blackboard Ultra comes with several commonly used categories to help organize and weigh assessment values. Sometimes an additional category is needed to properly organize certain assessments. This is commonly used for Labs, Observations, or other large groupings of assessments.

  1. Login to your course
  2. Open the Gradebook and click on the Gear ⚙️ icon in the top-right corner of the screen 
  3. Scroll down to Grade Categories
  4. Click Add New Category
  5. Type the name for the new category and press enter.
  6. Click Save.

Once you've saved the new category, you can select it in the categories dropdown when creating new assignments and tests.
