Using offline assessments with Blackboard Ultra
Table of Contents
Introduction
Many times, faculty will want to assess students in ways that can't be submitted through Blackboard in a traditional sense. This might be a class presentation, a lab observation, or a paper submission that does not make sense to be submitted electronically.
To ensure students are able to see their grades when posted, it's important to set up these assessments correctly, using the Collect submissions offline option.

Grading offline submissions:
When it's time to grade students through offline assessments, the process is very similar to making digitally submitted work with a minor change.
- Navigate to the assessment and click Grades → in the top-right corner.
- Locate and click on the student or group you wish to record a grade for.
- Create Attempt will appear. Confirm the submission date (usually the day you assessed the student(s) and click Save.
- From this point, the marking process is the same as if you were marking an online submission with the obvious exception that there is no file visible.
- Enter the grades and feedback and click Save.
- If you've set up your assessment to post automatically, you are done. Otherwise, you may have to click the Post Grades or Post All Grades button.
