Banner images too small with Blackboard Ultra update 3900.98
Table of Contents
Introduction
The most recent update brought with it the ability for instructors to layout course content in a more attractive manner that also makes greater use of the screen space available. This includes the ability to arrange content into up to four columns.
An unexpected result was that the maximum width of the content area increased from approximately 800 to 1200 pixels. When we originally created the banner images and templates, we used 800 as the width. While there is nothing inherently wrong with these images, the latest update has resulted in banner images looking too small for the space available.
What to do now
In response to this change, faculty have the following options:
- Leave the images as they are;
- Manually resize each image within the course;
- Download the updated versions (1200x75pixels) of the images and manually replace each image one by one; or
- Use the templates available to create customized banner images in Canva.
