Introduction
H5P is an ed tech tool that allows faculty to select from 50+ different content types and activities to boost engagement and interaction in their courses. You can create interactive videos, presentations, books, crosswords, quizzing games, and much, much more. H5P content can be linked to or embedded right in your Blackboard course. We can't cover all of the possibilities in one article, but click through the topics below to learn how to add H5P content to Blackboard Ultra and navigate the H5P content builder.
eCampusOntario provides access to H5P through their eCampusOntario H5P Studio. Folks from all public post-secondary institutions in the province have access to this resource.
If you don't have an account yet, please see What is the eCampusOntario H5P Studio? to learn more.
Navigating to the H5P content builder
When you first visit the eCampusOntario H5P Studio, you will see the catalogue where you can search for content that already exists. To access the content builder, you will need to login to your account. Click Login at the top right-hand corner of the page.
Once you've logged in, you'll see your dashboard. Once you have created or uploaded H5P content, this is where you'll find it. To build new content, click Create, found a the top right-hand corner of the page.
Here is where you can browse through the 50+ content types available for you to use in your course. For many of the content types, there is a content demo available when you click on the Details button next to a content type.
When you have selected a content type to use, most will also have a link to an example and a tutorial near the top of the builder, which can be great references as you're learning how to use the tool.
The actual step by step instructions for using the content builder will vary depending on the content type selected, and outlining those steps is beyond the scope of this article.
